We are in the playoffs and one of the owners in our league thinks I should change Josh Cribbs to a RB for him. I say no because he is not a RB. He says I am biased because we are playing each other this week.

What do you guys thing? Should Josh Cribbs be a RB?

Heck no he's not an RB. He's officially a WR per the NFL thus that is what he is on MFL. You can't just change a guys position during the season. I mean is Vick an RB now? How about Furrey? Should he be a DB cause he takes snap at DB from time to time? No way, positions are positions. Now you should of course follow what your league rules say but at the end of the day, no way.

My thoughts exactly.

I made changes in the past with Devin Hester and Kordell Stewart years ago when he actually did switch to WR for a bit. I don't see Cribbs as being as clear cut at all. Not even close in fact.

Thanks for your comment. The more third party comments I get the better.

Honestly you shouldn't even have done that way back then. Our rules specifically state that a players position at the beginning of the year is what they are. Doesn't matter if they happen to play another position during a game. It would be crazy in today's "wildcat" world to try to change a guys position mid season based on a few snaps. Basically nowadays whatever MFL has the player listed as is what they are and they are that way all season.

Not sure if it helps but here are my rules on player positions:

QUOTE
A player's position will be determined by the Myfantasyleague website. If there is a dispute the Commissioner will have final say and the players team web site and nfl.com will be consulted. Accordingly, if a player's position is potentially in question, an Owner should request a decision from the Commissioner regarding the player's position prior to adding the player to their roster. Example: Kordell Stewart is a QB. He starts a game at WR. You *cannot* start Stewart as a WR because his position is QB, however, if you start Kordell at QB, you will receive whatever points he gets at WR.

Notice our note of Kordell Stewart as an example. smile.gif I probably do need to update this to indicate that player positions are basically locked at the start of the season as they are on the MFL site unless MFL does a mid-season update (which they rarely do).

Either way, good luck!

True. I may need to tweak that part in our rules this offseason.

Yup, a comprehensive set of rules will avoid a lot of whining. I learned that early and have tweaked mine as the years pass. A lot of the additions we make to the rules come from situations that have been discussed here.

The 'position' situation is covered in our Line-ups section. In part:
Positions: Players are eligible only at the positions at which they are drafted as determined by the MFL software. The Commissioner shall be final determiner of that player's position.
